Ok, so it’s sometimes better to find out about ‘something’ through an interview… but given that there’s nobody around at the moment I’ll just interview myself…
When I write ‘we’ around this site, I use the term ‘we‘ as a slightly grand and overstated expression. It’s mostly me, Matt, at home writing about coffee and exploring the wonderful world of coffee (and espresso in particular). That’s not to say it is only ever me. We have contributions from other people who love coffee too as well as a talented range of freelancers that provide services like graphic design and some of the back-end software.I’m not a professional barista and I don’t work or make money in the coffee industry. I’m simply a bit like you. Someone who loves their coffee and wants to help other people make better coffee.
Who are you?

Why do you do this?
It comes out of the true love of coffee and a passion for investigating the world around me and telling others about what I’ve found. Believe it or not, this doesn’t pay for me to fly around in my private jet (sadly). For almost 20-years I’ve enjoyed coffee in my life and being somewhat of an engineer I can’t help but dig a little bit deeper into why coffee tastes as it does and how we can all make better coffee for ourselves… in particular at home.
What exactly is it you do though?
MGC centres around ‘News, Reviews, Interviews and How-To’s’, but really anything that can help other people understand how to make better coffee will probably get written about and posted here.
Do you make money from MGC?
At the time of writing…no, not really…but I would like to one day. Mostly that’s to fund more coffee machines (or a counter top big enough to have multiple group-heads) and perhaps one day taking a trip to see some roasters around the world.
Can I help
Sure! We love people to send in contributions or offer any other ideas. Just get in touch.
Can I buy you a coffee?
Of course.
